about
This track was released as part of the first compilation of The Epoch, a really cute New York City and Chicago-based music and art collective that I am part of along with musicians Small Wonder, Bellows, Sharpless, Maxo, Jack Ferencz, Told Slant, Calamity Sam, Corey Switzer, Random Child, and Hollow Earth, visual artists Susannah Cutler, Richard Gin, and Josh Oakley, and a few other really awesome people who take care of all of the decision making and generally being great (namely Montana Levy).
You can download the song along with the rest of the compilation on The Epoch bandcamp,

lyrics
I came to you a grain of sand
a mere shadow of a mountain
an empty shell, save for a tiny heart
nestled in a guilty conscience
unsatisfied, I cut my own chest open
and O, how I was mistaken
'cause O, my heart was wider than the oceans.
The expanse of my heart was exponential
a boundless, new realized potential
but O, how to make it beat?
but you said, "Hush, Gabrielle,"
and you reached inside and squeezed
and my hesitant heart began to beat.
I came to you a grain of sand
a mere shadow of a mountain
you took my hand and in my ear you whispered,
"New York is not where you belong,
but O, together we'll be strong
and steadfast as rock
and we'll find somewhere we can gather moss
until our amassing mountain stands aloft."
